विस्मयादिबोधक शब्द
हृदय की भावनाओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए Interjection का प्रयोग होता है। इसका संकेत [!] है।
1. Alas! My mother is no more.
हाय! मेरी माँ इस समय संसार में नहीं है।
2. Hurrah! I have got a book.
वाह! वाह! मुझे एक किताब मिली है।
3. Pish! You are a fool.
छि:! तुम मूर्ख हो।
4. Oh! What a dark night it is!
ओह! कैसी अंधेरी रात है।
5. Bravo! You have hit the ball.
शाबाश! तुमने गेंद मार दिया।
ऊपर के वाक्यों में Alas, Hurrah, Pish, Oh, Bravo शब्द क्या बतला रहे हैं? उत्तर-वे हमारे हृदय के हर्ष, शोक, भय, आश्चर्य, निन्दा, प्रशंसा आदि को बतलाते हैं। ऐसे शब्द Interjection कहलाते हैं। Interjection शब्द वाक्य के आदि में आते हैं और उनके बाद में विस्मयादिबोधक चिन्ह दिया जाता है, साथ ही, Interjection के बाद जो वाक्य आता है इसका प्रथम अक्षर बड़ा रहता है।
Interjection का प्रयोग निम्नलिखित भावों को प्रकट करने के लिए किया जाता है।
1. Joy (प्रसन्नता, हर्ष, उल्लास)-Hurrah!, Ha! Ha!
2. Sorrow (दुःख, विशाद)-Alast.Ah!,Ah me!, Hai!
3. Surprise ( आश्चर्य, अचरज)Oh!, What!, Good God!, Good heavens!
4. Approval (अनुमोदन, स्वीकृति) Bravo, Well donel, O.K.!
5. Contempt (घृणा, ग्लानि)-For shame! , Fie!, Bosh!
6. Calling ( संबोधन)-Hallo!, Ho!, Hey!, Holla!
7. Attention ( ध्यान) Lo!, Listen!, Look!, Behold!, rfush!
कई बार विभिन्न Parts of Speech का प्रयोग Interjection के रूप में किया जाता है।
Noun: A house! A house! My ambition for a house!
Pronoun: What a charming gait she has!
Verb: Would that were a king! Listen! Listen!
Adverb: How beautiful she is!
Conjection: If I could be there!
Infinitive : To assume that she could deceive
you!

Contempt
1. Ugh! what an ugly woman
उफ कितनी कुरूप स्त्री है
2. Fie! she is not fit for you.
लानत है! वह आपके योग्य नहीं है।
Calling
1. Hallo! listen to me
सुनो! मेरी बात सुनो।
2. Hey! come here
सुनो! इधर आओ।
Attention
1. Lo! there comes mummy.
लो! मम्मी आ गई।
2. Hark! someone is coming.
-सुनो! कोई आ रहा है।
3. Hush! the baby is asleep.
हश! बालक सोया हुआ है।
